Rigging Training Courses
Aims and outcomes
This course is designed for participants to gain the necessary skills to plan, prepare & complete basic rigging work as prescribed by the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work. On completion of this course, participants will be able to undertake the movement of plant and equipment, steel erection, use hoists (including mast climbing hoists), undertake the placement of pre-cast concrete, use safety nets and static lines, install perimeter safety screens, shutters and cantilevered crane-loading platforms.
Pre-Requisite
Participants must be the holder of a High Risk Licence in Dogging (DG). Licence applicants must be 18 years of age and be physically capable of performing rigging activities. A basic level of English and a moderate understanding of mathematics will also be required.
Course Content
- Legislation, Australian Standards, National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work, codes of practice and company rigging procedures.
- Company risk management procedures and rigging risk control
- Plan Work - Crane type and capacity requirements; Site rules and Contacts; Hazard Identification;Priorities; Emergency Procedures.
- Use of chain blocks; chain pullers; wire rope pullers, skids; skates; turnbuckles; purchases; winches and block and tackle; Calculation of loads in a purchase; using appropriate formula.
- Steel Erection - Columns; beams; braces; Trusses/Rafters; Structural bolts; nuts & washers; Erection plan reading.
- Erection & Dismantling of material hoists cantilevered - procedures in line with manufacturer’s specifications, AS 1418.7 and company procedures.
- Placement of Pre - cast concrete.
- Safety Nets and Static Lines
- Erection & Dismantling of Perimeter Safety Screens & Shutters
- Practical Training - Erect steel frame building using prepared plan; tools & equipment and demonstrate safe work at heights; Install concrete panels, crane loading platforms, safety nets and safety screens. Rig Purchase System using F.S.W.R. & Tirfor, Rig Tackle Block & I.D. Components.
Certification
Successful candidates will be awarded the Nationally Recognised unit of competency, CPCCLRG3001 Licence to perform rigging basic level. A Licence to Perform High Risk Work class RB will also be issued upon application application to WorkSafe Tasmania

Conducted over 5 days.

$1700 per person.
Reassessment
Students who do not successfully complete the course assessment or who are deemed not ready for assessment during the regular course time frame will require an additional assessment. Additional costs will apply to any additional assessments.
Cancellations
A cancellation fee will not be charged for courses cancelled or rescheduled no less than 5 working days prior to the course start date. For courses cancelled less than 5 days prior to the start date a cancellation fee of 50% of the course cost will be charged. For courses cancelled less than 1 day prior to the start date a cancellation fee of 100% of the course cost will be charged. Full course fees will be charged for “no shows” and participants who start a course but do not complete it.

This course is designed for participants to gain the necessary skills to plan, prepare & complete Intermediate Rigging work as prescribed by the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work. On completion of this course, participants will be able to carry out dual lifts, erection of tilt-slabs, demolition of structures and rig cranes and non-guyed towers.

Participants must be the holder of a High-Risk Licence in Basic Rigging (RB). Licence applicants must be 18 years of age and be physically capable of performing rigging activities. A basic level of English and a moderate understanding of mathematics will also be required.
Course Content
The Intermediate Rigging course is mapped the Nationally Recognised unit of competency:
CPCCLRG3002 Licence to perform rigging, Intermediate level, includes:
- Legislation, Australian Standards, National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work, codes of practice and company rigging procedures.
- Company risk management procedures and rigging risk control
- Plan Work - Crane type and capacity requirements; site rules and contacts; hazard identification; priorities; emergency procedures.
- Load Equalizing Gear including spreader bars; equalizing beams; sheaves.
- Rigging of Cranes, Conveyors, Dredges, Excavators
- Tilt-up Panels
- All Hoists
- Demolition
- Dual Lifts including calculation of load share and sling points.
- Practical Training
Certification
Successful candidates will be awarded the Nationally Recognised unit of competency, CPCCLRG3002 Licence to perform rigging intermediate level recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). A Licence to Perform High Risk Work, class RI will also be issued upon application to WorkSafe Tasmania
Duration
40 hours conducted over 4 days.

On completion of this course, participants will be able to identify hazards and control risks associated with Adnaced Rigging, Rig a span rope, Install a Swinging Stage, set up a Gin Pole and conduct a lift with a powered winch, install and remove a hung scaffold.

Course Content
The Advanced Rigging course is mapped to the nationally recognised unit of competency. CPCCLRG4001 Licence to perform Rigging, Advanced level, includes:
- Legislation, Australian Standards, National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work, codes of practice and company rigging procedures.
- Company risk management procedures and rigging risk control.
- Plan Work - Crane type and capacity requirements, site rules and contacts, hazard identification, priorities, emergency procedures.
- All tasks that an Intermediate Rigger can do.
- Erection of Flying Foxes
- Erection of Cableways
- Erection of Gin Poles
- Erection of Shear Legs and Tripods
- Erection of guyed Dericks and structures
- Erection of suspended and hung scaffolds
- Practical Training Certification.
Certification
To obtain your Advanced Rigging, High Risk Licence. You must pass all three sections, 1) Theory 2) Calculation Assessment and 3) Practical. Successful candidates will be awarded the Nationally Recognised unit of competency, CPCCLRG4001 Licence to perform Rigging Advanced level recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). A Licence to Perform High Risk Work, class RA will also be issued upon application to WorkSafe Tasmania

All students undergoing training to obtain a High Risk Work licence must obtain a ‘Unique Student Identifier’ commonly known as a USI number.
