Boom Type EWP Combined Yellow Card

Aims and Outcomes 

This course aims to give candidates the necessary skills and knowledge to plan, prepare and complete Elevating Work Platform operations safely and efficiently in accordance with the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work. On completion of this course candidates will be able to conduct routine checks; plan work; check controls, operate and shut down elevated work platform. 


Pre-Requisite 

Licence applicants must be a least 18 years of age and be physically capable of working at height and performing EWP activities. A basic level of English and a basic understanding of mathematics will also be required. 

Course Content 

The Elevated Work Platform course is mapped to the nationally recognised unit of competency: 

TLILIC0005 Licence to operate a boom type elevating work platform (Boom length 11m or more) Plus EWPA Yellow Card Combined Course.

  • Legislation, Australian Standards, National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work, codes of practice and company EWP procedures.
  • Company risk management procedures and EWP risk control
  • Elevating Work Platform types, working envelope, specifications, job requirements, priorities, identifying hazards and hazard control measures relevant to EWP operation, communication, and emergency procedures.
  • PPE requirements
  • Pre-start/Pre-operation checks, set-up, outriggers/stabilizers, ground conditions, mobiling, working around structures and other aspects of operation.
  • Shut down, stowage, post operational checks. As per manufacturers specifications and site rules.

Certification 

Successful candidates will be awarded the Nationally Recognised unit of competency TLILIC0005 Licence to operate a boom type elevating work platform, recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). A Licence to Perform High Risk Work, class WP will also be issued upon application to WorkSafe Tasmania Participants doing the Combined course will also receive an EWPA Yellow Card.

16 hours conducted over 2 days.

Cost 

$495 GST exempt$595 for the combined EWP Plus Yellow Card - Scissor Lift. 

Yellow Card – Scissor Lift 

Purpose 

This course is designed for applicants to gain the necessary skills to plan, prepare and complete Elevating Work Platform (Scissor Lift) operations. On completion of this course applicants will be able to conduct pre-operational checks, plan work, conduct worksite assessments, identify hazards, implement hazard control measures, operate and shut down elevated work platform and conduct post-operational check.


Pre-Requisite 

Applicants must be able meet the physical demands of EWP operations and preparations. To gain certification an applicant must be at least 17 years of age. 


Course Content 

Legislation in the Workplace - OSH Acts and regulations, Specific regulations dealing with cranes and AS 2550 Pt. 1 and AS 1418.10 Pt. 10. Plan Work - Elevating Work Platform type and reach requirements, job requirements, priorities, Workplace Rules and Procedures, identifying hazards and hazard control measures, communication and emergency procedures. Elevating Work Platform Operation - Pre-start/Pre-operation checks, set-up outriggers/stabilizers, Load Chart interpretation, AS 2550.10 - Cranes Safe Use - Elevated Work Platforms. 


Certification 

Competent candidates will be issue with an Elevating Work Platform Association of Australia (EWPA) 60-day interim certificate. The EWPA will issue a Trained Operator card Scissor Lift class within that 60-day period. 


Duration 

6 hours or included in the Combined EWP High Risk Licence + Yellow Card course.

Cost

$295 per person GST Exempt.Or $100 extra per person when doing the combined EWP High Risk Licence + Yellow Card


Reassessment 

Students who do not successfully complete the course assessment or who are deemed not ready for assessment during the regular course time frame will require an additional assessment. Additional costs will apply to any additional assessments. 


Cancellations 

A cancellation fee will not be charged for courses cancelled or rescheduled no less than 5 working days prior to the course start date. For courses cancelled less than 5 days prior to the start date a cancellation fee of 30% of the course cost will be charged. For courses cancelled less than 1 day prior to the start date a cancellation fee of 50% of the course cost will be charged. Full course fees will be charged for “no shows” and participants who start a course but do not complete it.
