Scaffolding Training Courses

Basic Scaffolding 

This course will give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to plan, prepare & complete basic scaffolding work as prescribed by the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work. On completion of this course participants will be able to manage risks; inspect equipment; work with fibre ropes; construct and dismantle modular scaffolds.

Pre-Requisites

Licence applicants must be 18 years of age and be physically capable of performing scaffolding activities


Course Content 

The Intermediate Rigging course is mapped the Nationally Recognised unit of competency: 

CPCCLSF2001 Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding, Basic Level, includes:

  • Legislation, Australian Standards, National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work, codes of practice and company scaffolding procedures.
  • Company risk management procedures and scaffolding risk control
  • Plan Work - Site requirements and rules; site hazard identification; emergency procedures; priorities; scaffold fit for the purpose.
  • Rope work including bowline; clove hitch; timber hitch; rolling hitch; use of gin wheels.
  • Identify scaffold components and use; identify damaged components.
  • Identify individual modular systems, their advantages/disadvantages.
  • Tube and Coupler overview and use
  • Ground Bearing Pressure related to live load; dead load.
  • Minimums and Maximums including lift height bay width, length light/medium/heavy duty scaffolds; bracing of scaffolds; tying of scaffolds.
  • Estimation of material
  • Practical Training - Erect modular scaffold; use tube and coupler where necessary to modify; tag completed scaffold; dismantle scaffold and stow gear.

Certification 

Successful candidates will be awarded the Nationally Recognised unit of competency CPCCLSF2001 Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding, Basic Level, recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). A Licence to Perform High Risk Work, class SB will also be issued upon application to Workplace Standards Tasmania


Duration 

35 hours conducted over 4 to 5 days.

Reassessment 

Students who do not successfully complete the course assessment or who are deemed not ready for assessment during the regular course time frame will require an additional assessment. Additional costs will apply to any additional assessments.


Cancellations 

A cancellation fee will not be charged for courses cancelled or rescheduled no less than 5 working days prior to the course start date. For courses cancelled less than 5 days prior to the start date a cancellation fee of 50% of the course cost will be charged. For courses cancelled less than 1 day prior to the start date a cancellation fee of 100% of the course cost will be charged. Full course fees will be charged for “no shows” and participants who start a course but do not complete it.

Intermediate Scaffolding

This unit specifies the outcomes required to erect, alter, and dismantle scaffolding at the Intermediate level which includes use and operation of Cantilevered crane-loading platforms, Cantilevered and spurred scaffolds, Barrow ramps and sloping platforms, perimeter safety screens and shutters Mast climbers, and tube and coupler scaffolds (including tube and coupler covered ways and gantries) for licensing purposes.

Pre-Requisites

Please note that this course has a pre-requisite requirement that participants hold the unit CPCCLSF2001 Licence to perform basic scaffolding or hold a valid licence for basic scaffolding.


Course Content 

The Intermediate Scaffolding course is mapped to the Nationally Recognised unit of competency:

CPCCLSC3001 Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding, Intermediate, includes:

  • This unit applies to scaffolding work involving:
  • Cantilevered crane loading platforms
  • Cantilevered scaffolds
  • Spur scaffolds
  • Barrow ramps and sloping platforms
  • Scaffolding associated with perimeter safety screens and shutters.
  • Mast climbing work platforms.
  • Tube and coupler scaffolds (including tube and coupler covered ways and gantries).

Duration 

40 hours conducted over 5 days.

Certification

No refunds are available once a course has commenced.

Non-attendance at your chosen course/workshop does not warrant a refund, however substitutes are accepted should you not be able to attend a course for which you have registered.


Under exceptional circumstances Industrial Licencing Solutions may give a refund. If you consider that you have a basis for such a claim, you will be required to apply for a refund in writing and provide relevant documentary evidence to substantiate your claim.


Please note that as Covid restrictions have been lifted, we expect participants to still attend their course while following Covid safe practices in our training space. If you are unable to attend due to sickness a doctor’s certificate will be required.

Advanced Scaffolding

This course will give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to plan, prepare & complete advanced scaffolding work as prescribed by the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work. On completion of this course participants will be able to safely demonstrate advanced scaffolding activities such as cantilevered hoist, hung scaffolds, including scaffold hanging from tubes, wire ropes and suspended scaffolds.

Pre-Requisites

Participants must currently hold a High-Risk Licence in Intermediate Scaffolding. Licence applicants must be 18 years of age and be physically capable of performing scaffolding activities and USI Number. A basic level of English and a moderate understanding of mathematics will also be required.


Course Content 

The Advanced Scaffolding course is mapped to the Nationally Recognised unit of competency:

CPCCLSF4001 Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding, Advanced Level, includes:

  • Review task instructions, consult with relevant persons to seek clarification as required, and obtain relevant workplace information.
  • Calculate loads exerted on and by the scaffold and scaffolding equipment.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffold and equipment while maintaining stability, in accordance with workplace and manufacturer requirements.
  • Erect and dismantle a cantilevered hoist.
  • Erect and dismantle a hung scaffold that is hung from chains, flexible steel wire rope (FSWR) or tubes.
  • Erect and dismantle a suspended scaffold attached by a dual needle system using counterweights and powered winch.
  • Inspect completed scaffolding task for compliance with task requirements, complete handover certificate and forward to relevant persons, and complete and attach scaffold tag.
